Kick-start this tour in Entebbe then enjoy scenic flight to spectacular Queen Elizabeth National Park and finally the verdant Bwindi Impenetrable National Park before finalizing in Kampala- all while spending overnights in some of the best Safari Lodges

Set in the western side of Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the unmissable safari destinations during Uganda safaris and covers an area of 197800 hectares, hence making it the second largest Park after Murchison falls.

This Protected Area is one of the most biodiverse-rich areas with over 95 mammal species as well as 600 bird species in addition to its varying landscapes/ecosystems. The wildlife tour will be undertaken here in form of game drives and boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in the south-western side of Uganda and covers an area of 321 square kilometers.

This Protected Area is known for being a stronghold for mountain gorillas but it is another diversity hot spot with about 120 mammal species as well as over 350 bird species that include 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemics that include Rwenzori batis and handsome francolin among others.

4 Days Gorilla and Wildlife Tour Brief Itinerary

  • Day 1: Take a domestic flight from Entebbe to Kasese or Mweya Airstrip, afternoon boat cruise.
  • Day 2: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park via game drive and connect to Bwindi.
  • Day 3: Discover Bwindi via gorilla trekking adventure & take a walk through the Batwa community.
  • Day 4: Depart Bwindi via a long road trip to Kampala.

Detailed Itinerary of the 4 Days Gorilla and Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Take a domestic flight from Entebbe to Kasese or Mweya Airstrip, afternoon boat cruise.

After breakfast at the Hotel in Kampala/Entebbe, get driven to the Airport by Hail Tours Uganda Company representative to the domestic check-in point. Arrive Kasese or Mweya Airstrip by a domestic blush flight, whereby you will be received by your private safari driver at the Airstrip and be transferred to the Lodge.

While driving from the Airstrip to the Lodge, relish views of the countryside and sights of animals along the game tracks like the African bush elephants, Topis, Uganda Kobs, Cape buffaloes, Olive baboons, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, Oribis, Mongoose, bushbucks and warthogs among others.

Have enough time to settle-in at the Lodge, have lunch and later continue to the Mweya jetty for the afternoon boat cruise.

Kazinga is a natural channel that connects Lakes George and Edward and is a renowned haven to lots of Nile crocodiles and Hippos. Also common during the boat cruise are elephants and Cape buffaloes alongside aquatic bird species that can’t be spotted during other activities of the Park.

You should be done with the boat ride by sunset to allow you relax, have dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Overnight;

  • Uganda Lodges’ Elephant Plains Lodge or Marasa Africa’s Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury).
  • Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge or the incredible Enganzi Game Lodge (midrange).
  • Tembo Safari Lodge or Simba Safari Camp (basic).

Meals: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park via game drive and connect to Bwindi.

On this day, you will be engaging in a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park and this is at the popular Kazinga Channel where numerous Uganda Kobs can be spotted alongside lions and leopards.

The Game drive also makes it possible to sight African bush elephants, spotted hyenas, Cape buffaloes, Mongoose, Defassa waterbucks and others. Later, drive back to the Lodge for your lunch and luggage before continuing southwards of Queen Elizabeth National Park towards Ishasha sector.

From here, you will be ushered to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

  • Mahogany Springs Camp or Buhoma Lodge (luxury).
  • The popular Engagi Safari Lodge or the amazing Silverback Lodge (midrange).
  • Ride for a woman or Bwindi View Bandas (basic).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 3: Discover Bwindi via gorilla trekking adventure & take a walk through the Batwa community.

Spend your third day discovering Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and by the end of the day, you will understand why the Park is one of the must-visit places. Converge at the Park Headquarters for pre-tracking registration and briefing on the actual gorilla trekking adventure which begins at 8am.

The walk through the densely forested slopes is guided and takes anywhere between one and six hours. The moment you reach the mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to spend a maximum of one hour watching and photographing them at a reasonable distance – 7 meters away.

Lunch will be enjoyed at the Lodge after the unforgettable time with the Giant Apes and in the evening enjoy a visit to the Batwa pygmies. Learn about their exceptional cultures and traditions that have been kept for generations.
